Inspired by nature, Michigan-based designer Susan Qiu is exploring the border with minimal furniture design work that has ingredients unexpected.
In this collection there are several pieces of foam and you may not think that the foam can be used as decoration. This material is comfortable but rarely considered embellishments. Qiu shows a decorative function to make these items.
You may think that this piece is a defective rug, but it’s essentially a rug on the floor that elevates at the center to function as a backrest. The form defines a double room for both conversation and resignation. Different tones used on two sides of the ridge signify the adret and ubac of the mountain.
Maybe you wouldn’t pay attention to the furniture but it’s very functional and kind of fun – just have a look.
